Having trouble with usb-midi interface UX16 for yamaha keyboard.?
i keep trying to load the cd and i'm not doing something right i did the new hardware blah blah and i keep restarting and nothing is working what am i doing wrong?

Did you by chance plug the cable in "before" you ran the cd and put in the driver, if you did windows may have flagged it as an unknown device
With the cable plugged in go to the device manager in the control panel, do you see anything flagged in an expanded tree, if you do, right click on it and select uninstall
Now unplug the cable, run the driver cd, restart, and try the cable now, or follow the directions if the installation prompts you too
Almost all usb devices need the driver in the system before the device is plugged in.
OK if that's not it,
The software or sequencer you are using needs to be set to communicate with the keyboard, not just use the computers midi capability of the sound card
Likewise the keyboard will usually need to be set to use the midi lines in and out to communicate with the computer
Now you have to look through the options on the computer, usually it can record pressed keyboard keys silently, play them via the sound card or both
Usually the computer can control the keyboard too, it may need some settings setup
